Der Begriff Palliativmedizin wird in Deutschland praktisch alternativ zu „Palliative Care<\/a>“ verwendet, ist aber nicht so umfassend. Er wird weder dem multi-professionellen Ansatz gerecht, noch wird der zentrale Stellenwert von Empathie darin ausgedr\u00fcckt, der im englischen „Care“ durchaus enthalten ist.
\nDementsprechend ist auf der Website der IAHPC – der International Association for Hospice & Palliative Care<\/a> – folgender Eintrag im Palliativ-Lexikon („Pallipedia“) zu lesen:<\/p>\n

„Palliative medicine is the study and management of patients with active, progressive, far-advanced disease for whom the prognosis is limited and the focus of care is the quality of life.<\/p>\n

This definition is for the specialty practiced by doctors.
\nWhen describing the care offered by a team of doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, clergy, and volunteers it is more correct to refer to palliative care.“

Da sowohl zur Symptomkontrolle als auch in Hinblick auf Behandlungsentscheidungen die individuellen Bed\u00fcrfnisse und Wertvorstellungen des Patienten im Zentrum palliativen Denkens und Handelns stehen, nimmt Kommunikation<\/a> einen zentralen Stellenwert im \u00e4rztlichen Handeln ein. Die zus\u00e4tzliche Ber\u00fccksichtigung der Bed\u00fcrfnisse und Dynamiken des sozialen Umfelds des Patienten erfordert einen systemischen Ansatz. Der Blick des Palliativmediziners (und des Palliativpflegers) richtet sich somit auf den Patienten als ganzen Menschen – insofern k\u00f6nnte man Palliativmedizin gewisserma\u00dfen auch als Psychologisierung der Medizin bezeichnen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
